CarolHeaton
I just quilted a childs quilt and the backing is a batik, the needle makes these hugh holes in the backing, you can actually hear a pop when the needle goes in. The front is fine will this heal when washed and should I use a different needle??
ramona-quilter
I know a lot of people change to 3.5 needles when working with batiks. I also know a lot of people that don\'t change their needles as often as they should. I get the popping when I have the quilt too tight on the rollers. And I find that if the batik is good stuff, and most of it is, the weave closes up after washing.
Stagecl
Linda is right...the weave closes up after washing. I will change to a 3.5 because it leaves a smaller hole and helps if there are any pokies. If you have to rip and of course there is a hole...just spritz it with water and it will close up too.
