cutting batting

Hi,

If I have my batting hanging on a batting hanger, how do you measure the batting and cut it off in a straight line.

I always seem to have to cut the batting extra longer than necessary as I can't cut it in a straight line and don't have a ruler/table long enough to lay it out.

I pull the batting out on the floor, measure, mark where I want to cut and use the Black & Decker crosshair laser to shoot a line done the straight edge and across the batting and cut along that laser light line.
