Lisas_Stitching_Corner
I am posting a message from my longrarm friend/mentor/colleague and amazing quilter, Page Johnson. She has been putting in extraordinary energy organizing and working with QOV in Minnesota. Designer Salute to Soldiers Quilts of Valor piecing groups are springing up all over the United States. These local groups are making numerous quilt tops. The fact is there are far more piecers than there are quilters. QOV is always striving to have the “Quilters” keep pace with the “Toppers”. Determining what to quilt on a top can be a very time consuming task. It can be very frustrating for quilters to be constantly searching for designs that are fast and easy, fit their quilting machine, as well as suitable for a quilt of honor. Quilts of Valor have challenged the talented designers of quilting patterns to come up with designs for these quilts. Many have answered our call by creating dignified designs suitable for a Quilt of Valor. These designs are available to be used on Quilts of Valor free of charge. Designs will be available for all machine types and skill levels. Each design will be stitched out on a sample quilt. Any one who stops by a QOV booth will be supplied with a list of participating designers and their web sites. They can view the mini quilts and take note of the ones they would like to use. Quilts of Valor will not be responsible for the distribution of the designs. Designs remain the property of the designer. Quilters who wish to use the designs need to visit the designer’s web site for information on receiving the free designs. Quilts of Valor will be displaying samples of these quilting designs at Quilt shows around the country. The first of which will be MQX in New Hampshire April 14 – 20. The collection will than grow and travel around the country. If you are going to be coordinating a QOV booth at a quilt show and would like to display these quilted samples please let us know. Send your contact information, the name and location of the quilts show, the dates the show will be held to page@qovf.org.
