chickenscratch
Hi All, My work has been accepted into a big craft fair in our area:D. The question I have is what I should offer for sale. I know I will take the quilts and wall hangings, because that was what I used to register, but what other types of small items might I take to attract those under $20 shoppers. I registered as a fabric artist, so anything made of fabric should fit into my category. I was thinking of placemats, potholders, tree skirts, tote bags, and quilting embellished sweatshirts. If I take all of these things do you think it will take away from my quilts and wallhangings? If I take only quilts and wallhangings I'm afraid I will #1: not have enough stuff to fill a 15x15 space and #2: not attract the bargain shoppers. Another question: What is reasonable as far as price for a pieced, quilted bedcovering? I was thinking somewhere in the $125-$325 range, depending on the complexity of the design and the amount of quilting. Some of these quilts have involved many hours of work and some pretty expensive fabrics. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks. Teresa
Mary Beth
Personally, I think you should have something for everyone...When I was a single mom, on a limited income, it was nice to be able to buy something nice, even if it was small, from a craft fair. Just my opinion....you know what they say about that:D Pricing is way out of my league...wish I could help, but I will leave that one to the experts...good luck. TinaCollins
Oh My Goodness! Teresa, you should call me as I have hundreds of "quilty" items I used to sell in my shop that cater to even the smallest budgets! I found that most people want to buy "something" pretty even if they don't have a lot of cash to spend. It would take a lot of typing to list them here... much easier to tell you than to type what they are and how you make them!!! If you are interested, give me a call tomorrow after 3... (I have people coming over to try my Millie at 1, but after that I will be free to talk) Oh, my contact info is on my website: http://www.applecreekquilting.com
chickenscratch
Tina, Oh good grief. Thank you so much. I will call you tomorrow afternoon. I might even drive over and see you. I just realized you are right over in Cape. I am about 40 minutes from you, near Caruthersville. The big show I'm getting ready for is the Reelfoot Lakes Arts and Crafts festival. It is Oct. 1 & 2. I look forward to talking to you.
