Mip
Hello Ladies. Lurker here. I hope someday to be helpful to someone in some way on this forum, but am still learning. I was wondering if we could review pokies again? I have a 50% white quilt top, so white white batting. It is Dream Cotton Select. Says on the package it is appropriate for longarm machines. Solid black back. (Only backing color she could find at the time that was big enough.) There is no scrim. I put the flatest looking side down. Way too many pokies, even with a new needle. I have only quilted about 12" so far. <Insert panicked smiley face here.> Any other ideas before I rip it off the machine? Do you think poly-down would be a better bet? Thank you. Primitive1
Would using white thread on the back be an option? Then those pokies would not be so noticable. Vicki
Quilting Heidi
You should load it with the rougher side up. It should look like there are dimples in it and that is the way the batting is needled when it is made. I have had a terrible time with Hobbs Heirloom giving me pokies on solid colored backs. You might want to consider switching to a poly batt and see if that is better.
barbm
If you don't want to rip it out, go ahead and finish the quilting, then use a black prisma pen to color the pokies. And they sometimes disappear on their own after you take the quilt off the machine and give it a good shake. Good luck!
