  1. Your quilt looks lovely in the room. I really like all the accessories you sewed to go with it. It really brings everything together. I am with you, I hate frogging. I am sure we all do. LOL
  2. I love all the quilts you girls are working on. I love seeing the pictures. This "Terrific Thursday" posting was a fantastic idea. I really enjoy seeing and hearing what all of you are up to. I am still working on JN "Crown of Thorns" quilt. I am frogging the background. I did it in feathers. Black thread on black background. I don't like it at all. I didn't want to use a contrasting thread because I didn't want the background to over power the design of the quilt. I am now thinkiing of doing cross hatching instead of the feathers and maybe a gold thread to match the fabric in the quilt design. I am not sure yet. If anyone has any suggestions, I sure welcome them. I have started piecing my Halloween quilts. I have the embroidered blocks done so piecing and quilting goes pretty fast. I sold a few last year and hope to do the same this year. Wish me luck. Other than workiing on the JN quilt today I have to clean the lower level rec room, kitchen and bathroom. Though it is convienient with the kids, having two kitchens sucks. It keeps their messes out of my main kitchen. Cleaning will take the biggest share of my day. Yuck!! I do plan on taking my breaks in my studio. Lots of them. This weekend I plan on cleaning my studio. Definately the biggest job of them all. When I get it cleaned up maybe I will post some pictures of it next Thursday. Hope you all have Terric Thursday!
  3. Congratulations on your Freedom. You are in for one of the best experiences of your life. I love my Millie and spend as much time with her as I can. You are right, APQS has the best customer service, they are always there for us. This forum is also the best place to come for answers. There is always someone here to help. We all love picture too. So please share pictures. As a newbie, the best advice I can give you is PPP. It all looks so simple but it takes practice. I practice any new designs I want to learn. Get your self a dry erase board or a large sketch pad and, put a piece of practice fabric or a quilt you can practice on and go for it. I found instructional DVDs to be a great help too. I love Myrna Ficken, The Pajama Quilter and Kim Brunner to name a few I really found helpful. Also, giving your Freedom a nickname is perfectly acceptable, alot of us do.
  4. Thanks for posting the close ups. Beautifully done. I love all the feathers. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I love it! Beautiful quilting and adorable quilt. You did a really nice job quilting this. Love all the designs you used. Thanks for sharing.
  6. I too have to skin a border. I have never done this before. It does mean to remove all the stitching? I don't quite understand how to use a rotary cutter to do this. Can someone explain so it is clearer to me. Thanks so much.
  7. Oma, We love ya and you will definately be in my prayers. So much to go through in 2 weeks time. I am glad the surgeries are in the past and you can concentrate on healing. Rest, take care of yourself and be sure to get in plenty of "Me" time. You are really lucky to have such a caring family. I will pray for them also. It can't be easy on them seeing you go through all of this. Hang in there.
  8. Sylvia, You are in my prayers. I pray all goes well and you have a speedy recovery. You will feel so much better after getting that nasty thing out of there. You will be amazed. Keep smiling and you will be back to quilting real soom. Hugs to you.
  9. Heidi, beautiful cabinet. I love your choice of colors. I can't wait to see the rest of the room put together. Bring on those pictures!
  10. Really nice Queenie. You did a really great job on all of them. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Oh so sweet. I bet she was happy to see it quilted. It's always a joy to make someone happy with a quilt they have made and to think she made this 88 years ago. Beautiful quilt. I would like to see a closer look at the quilting. I have a double wedding ring I want to quilt and would love to get some ideas.
  12. Della. This quilt turned out really cute. I love the panto you used. It fits the quilt very well. Another great quilt. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Really darling quilt. It looks like it will be fun to work on. The girls have given you some really nice ideas. I am sure you will do a beautiful job, what ever you decide. I can't wait till you post pictures of the finished quilt. I love the retro quilts.
  14. Sounds like a great time. I wish I were there with you. I love quilt shows and classes. Who doesn't? Have a ball and fill us in when you get back. Safe travels.
  15. Boni, You have your hands full with this one. The others gave great advise so I won't chime in. I can't wait for you to finish and post pictures. I am looking forward to seeing it quilted. I am sure it will be a beautiful outcome. You always do such wonderful work. Work your magic girl and good luck. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Welcome to the forum and to the APQS family. You are going to love it here and your new Lucey. It is so exciting getting your first longarm. We are all here for you, so don't be afraid to ask anything. I know as a newbie I had lots of questions. One of the most important things to remember is practice, practice, practice. It takes a while to get to know your machine. It won't be long and you will be best friends. I am looking forward to sharing with you and bring on the pictures. We all love pictures!!
  17. Connie, I too battle the depression bug. It is living hell. I am thankful to have found a good balance with my meds right now and the dreary days are further between. I hope you find your peace of mind and comfort from all of us here. We are always here for you. Good luck on whatever move you decide to take. I would look at it really close first. Like others have said, take a few days at a time and do some traveling to see if you are comfortable in the surroundings. Visit MI in the winter so you can get a feel of the weather there. My grandsons lived close to Lake Michigan. The winters were horrible. Lots of snow and very gloomy. I couldn't live there with my depression. I find the winters in the midwest to be pretty hard to take sometimes. My worst depression usually sets in around November and and last through February. I love spring, hot summers and all the pretty colors of fall. Hang in there, work with your Dr. and get out and about as often as you can. We love you and care about you. Please keep us posted on how you are feeling and let us know it there is anything we can do for you to make it any easier for you. My doctor suggested I move to AZ for my depression and fibromyalgia
  18. Bobbi, I am glad you had fun. It's always exciting to meet new people, and to meet one of ours from the forum had to be especially exciting.
  19. I love Dawn, I agree "she is the BEST"! She is a great instructor too! I have taken some of her classes and learned so much from her. I know how you feel about wanting to toss your machine out the window. When I got my first Millie, it is a wonder it did not end up on the curb. But we are doing fine now. I too kept Amy on the line for the better part of 2 hours. The APQS family are the greatest! I am glad to hear you are getting along with yours now.
  20. Precious, I love this story. It is so heart warming. Great son and grandma. She thought she was doing a wonderful thing. My daughter wears those holey jeans and I hate it. She would have a fit if I tried to patch them, and she would not be as grateful as your son. He is a wonderful grandson to wear them so proudly. I agree, you should send this story to some publications. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Oh so beautiful quilting. I would say you have background fills down pat. You did a wonderful job on this quilt! I have a sampler to do and your designs are very inspiring. I won't do as good as you have, but I am going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing. I always love seeing the quilts you girls do. You never cease to amaze me.
  22. Beautiful feathers! I love the way you laid them out. Perfect quilting. Thanks for sharing. Keep those photos coming.

  24. Oh so beautiful!! Your quilts are gorgeous and the quilting is superb!! The ribbons you won are well deserved. Whoo Hoo, Kay. You go get em girl. I only hope someday I will be half as good as you. Thanks so much for sharing. This is definately going into my favorites.
  25. Beautiful quilting! Your border on this one is a show stopper. Absolutely gorgeous. I love all the feathers and the way you laid them out. Keep those pictures coming. I love to see what you are all doing. Very inspirational! Thanks for sharing.
