LynnQuilts got a reaction from Corey in Which is preferred--Hartley Base Expander or other options like Ruler Mate
I used to have a Ruler Mate and I liked it.  It was fine, did the job.  But it is a bit of a pain to take it on and off, since you have to unscrew the base and screw on the throatplate.  Still, not a huge deal.  I now have a Hartley base, which I like a lot better.  I can easily slip it on and off, but I rarely take it off.  I've raised my rollers a bit, and the base does not drag.  But they are both very good.

I have the Bliss system, but moving my machine had gotten to be like moving a truck, a ten-ton truck.  My M&M wheels were old, and so I got new wheels.  What a difference!  It now moves the way I remember it moving when I first got Blissed!!  I don't have to push a truck any more!

LynnQuilts got a reaction from LisaC in Opinions on Interchangeable Feet, Clog, Specifically,Please
I didn't buy the Clog foot for that exact reason.  I use rulers on the front a lot, so I just got the regular ruler foot.  But I do love those small feet, the Flip Flop and the Sneaker foot.  They are wonderful.

I agree with Jim.  You could trade in your head for a new one (if they take an older one, and I assume you probably wouldn't get much on it), but the new machine may or may not go with your existing table.  The other features of a Millie are nice, the channel locks are nice, and the single stitch button is nice, but certainly not near necessary.  The stitch regulator is the most important in my mind, and you can get it separately without replacing the head.  That would be my advice.  (Jim, I also HATE the horizontal wheels!)

LynnQuilts got a reaction from JeannieB in Millie - Should I ReTime?
Just be glad you didn't start retiming it for nothing!!  One time I thought my machine needed to be retimed.  I had emailed Dawn I think, and just when I was getting started, she called me.  It was not needed at all.  I was so glad I'd been slow to get started at it!  Glad for you too!!

I also had been told that alcohol was no longer needed.  So I was cleaning mine with just a piece of batting.  Then when I could hardly move my machine I was told to use alcohol.  It was amazing how much gunk I got off with the alcohol!

LynnQuilts got a reaction from Beachside Quilter in Open Toe Hopping foot?
According to the sheet describing the feet, the Flip Flop  glides around applique and gives you great visibility, and the Sneaker is for micro-stippling.  Beyond that, I'm not sure what the real difference is, because they seem basically the same, except with the cut-out on one.  I haven't tried the Sneaker yet, but I just put the Flip Flop on my machine today, since I wanted to "glide around applique," and it is AWESOME!!!!  I was perfectly content with my original foot, even though I had to strain sometimes to see my stitching, but I love, love, LOVE this new foot!!!  I don't know how I lived without it!  I'd also be curious to know the difference in purpose between the two feet and the reasoning behind it.

There's an old panto called Feathered Curls by Jodi Beamish that I've used a lot, very feathery and I don't think too difficult.  It looks great.
