Baltimore Album finished with 17 (!) pictures
rcck00 replied to Omega QW's topic in Quilt Pictures, Patterns & Inspiration...
Wow. Beautiful. You should be very proud of your work! Linda R, even after you pointed out the houses in block 6, it took me a while to see them! Then I started looking for other shapes, too! I think each house is riding on the back of a turtle! Wonderful quilt and quilting! -
Is anyone else having this problem?
rcck00 replied to mrsbishwit's topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
Hi Joann, You are not alone. I am going through the same thing, even down to the queen size not being done, let alone finished loading! No words of advice (or I would tell myself, too!), but thought I'd let you know I'm there with ya. -
Angel... need input... Finished with pics
rcck00 replied to rcck00's topic in Quilt Pictures, Patterns & Inspiration...
Thanks for the kind words. Wish the stitching showed up better in the pictures... Joan- Two threads on top (metallic and so fine) , one on bottom (a gutterman that I had that matched!). -
Angel... need input... Finished with pics

I finally finished her (except for binding). I used a dk blue So Fine with a variegated pastel metallic together on the dark pieces, and a yellow with the same metallic on the light pieces. Silver and gold combined for the radiating lines. It's all a little bit hard to see, now that I look at the pics... Thanks for looking! [/img] -

Angel... need input... Finished with pics

Thank you, everyone, for the great ideas. You've given me lots to think about. It makes me want to make more of them so I could quilt each one differently!! The pattern is called Big Sister Angel. I found it at Clotilde. Here is the link: http://www.clotilde.com/detail.html?prod_id=11630 -
Hi, I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! I am making this angel wall hanging for my sister. It is all fusible applique. Now I'm not sure how to quilt it. I know what I'm doing for the background (lines radiating out from the center), but I'm not sure what to do with the applique pieces. My first plan was to do a "Herky Jerky" stained glass treatment (saw it on Fons and Porter), but that is usually done on black background with black thread. Since this is blue, should I use matching thread? Or should I go with black? Or?? I have hit a road block, and can't figure it out. Any input

Heidi, This is how I load my backers as well! I have never had a pucker or tuck on the back of a quilt. **looking for wood to knock on, now that I've said that!!**

Some people are "cotton purists" and will only use cotton thread, no matter what. Which is okay, if that's what you like. Others won't use cotton because of the lint factor. But if you use a good quality cotton, the lint is much less of a problem. Coates and Clark thread is very weak and linty, I find, and I don't like to use it even in my DSM. My favorite threads are So Fine, King Tut, and Rainbows (which I find can be a little bit finicky in the tension department, but has beautiful colors and sheen!!). I also like the Signature cotton, and I have a lot of the Maxi-Lock and Swirls cones,

prewound bobbin vs sidewinder
rcck00 replied to dortheakramer's topic in Ask The Expert - Thread, Needle, Bobbins
When you say Sidewinder, are you talking about the little plastic box bobbin winder? Like the kind you can buy at JoAnn's or LQS? -

cute little Irish Chain
rcck00 replied to Tracey's topic in Quilt Pictures, Patterns & Inspiration...
I love it!! What did you do in the chain part? I couldn't quite make it out... putting this in my favorites, because I just love the way you quilted it!!! -
Cathy and Judy, Welcome!! Just jump on in, the water's great! It doesn't matter a whit what kind of machine you've got (or if you don't have one at all), we are all quilters, and that's what counts. I recently visited some family (love them to death, but they are definitely non-quilters!! ), and it made me realize how much you all mean to me. Having a common passion and appreciation bonds us and creates our own kind of family. All adoptions approved!!
