  1. Great quilt!! Lovely quilting, too. What a blessing you are to your x-daughter-in-law and her baby. An encouragement for you: If your goal is beautiful feathering, then you are getting closer to that goal every time you guide your machine --- freehand or panto or board. You are learning how your machine moves, and you are absorbing muscle memory. One day, not too long from now, you are going to surprise yourself with what you will accomplish.
  2. Linda, Thank you so much for sharing this tip. I don't have many opportunities to take classes, but everyone here is so generous with information that I feel like I can stay 'in the loop!' Thanks,
  3. Wow, beautiful quilt. She's a lucky girl.

  5. Hi Jo, and Welcome! Congratulations on getting past your fear of using the machine. I remember that feeling very well! If you are getting loops on the backside of the quilt, then your top thread tension is too loose. Try tightening it up, giving it a full turn to begin with. It takes a bigger adjustment to make a difference... not like the domestic sewing machine, where you make very small adjustments. If you find that your bobbin thread is coming up to the top of the quilt, then loosen the top thread little by little, until you get the balance right. And I agree about your wanting a
  6. Wow! Congratulations! Show us some of the things you been making! Please?
  7. Hi Daisy, When I hear 'clean my Mili' I think of Shana! She is the Queen of Clean in my mind!! Here is a link where she talks about it: http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=17056&page=1#pid192319 Hope this helps you,
  8. Kay, I found this on her site.... Copyright © 2009 Leah Day - Designs cannot be reproduced, printed, or copied for commercial use without the express permission of Leah Day. But I don't think she means we can't use her ideas... just not print them, copy them or try to sell them as our own. Unless I'm mistaken.... and that could certainly be the case! Thanks!
  9. Sheryl, Could you provide a link to the staple remover? Thanks!
  10. You'll Get Your Quilt Sunday after church, a mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared; you'll get your quilt." Needless to say, the mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about. He said, "Be not afraid; thy comforter is coming."
  11. Ok, I'm feeling stupid here... my minimum is $25. Guess I'm selling myself short?
  12. Lovely quilting. Perfect choice of designs!
  13. Wow! Three for one! They are all beautiful, Cheryl, and all so different! Great job of making lemonade out of lemons!!:cool:
  14. Great feathers, Beth!! I love your half-wreaths, too!
  15. Beautiful!! I wish I had a better word! Question: On the border (which is *gorgeous*) did you tie and bury the threads on the bead board stitching, or did you backstitch?
  16. Does anyone have a picture of the Juki thread guide? I'm not familiar with this. Thanks in advance.
  17. Good for you! It looks great. I understand the frustration... I started on a New Joy frame with a Brother 1500. Tiny amount of room compared to my Mili!
  18. Man-alive!! I'm really just speechless. Seriously, words fail. Unbelievable. I'm adding to favorites. Thanks for sharing!
  19. Liam, I have to 2nd Linda's response. Of course you and your opinions and comments are welcome! This is not an exclusive club. I have no idea who this message came from, but he/she has a lot of nerve thinking they speak for me. I think you should use the "delete" button on that message. I would be very sad if you went back "into the shadows." Stay! And contribute often!
  20. Sorry, everybody, if I put that story forth as a true one. I always check snopes, as well, but it didn't even occur to me to do so with this one. I just thought it was a heartfelt story, not a news or informational piece. Also, sorry about not putting up a tissue alert. I will remember to do that next time, and I'll go amend this one now. I'm glad most of you enjoyed it! Here are my babies: Chance Tucker
  21. Sorry Julia!!! I've never posted one of these before.... didn't know the etiquette!!
