  1. This afternoon when I was cleaning my Millie she got stuck on super high speed. I pressed a button and she calmed down. This has never happened before. I have noticed lately her engine revs like I am going too fast when I am not. Any ideas what her problem might be? Is this a stitch regulator problem? Belt problem? After she calmed down I finished cleaning her and then loaded a small pillow of my own to quilt. She did fine. The stitches did seem to be a bit smaller than normal but the tension looked good otherwise. Thoughts?
  2. I love using pre-wound bobbins. My motto is "Life is too short to wind your own bobbins!" I typically use SuperBOBS by Superior. It seems lately they have been, for a better term, wound too tight. The thread peels off instead of falls off if you know what I mean. They are causing tension issues. Anyone else experiencing this issue? I take then take them and use them in my DSM and they still cause trouble. I hate to just pitch them since they aren't free. Any suggestions? Thank you, Amy
  3. Anne Bright has a lot of great patterns that are open. Merrily is one of my favorites from her. I also really like Simply Clematis from her as well. Plus I met her in person and she is really nice. Bonus!
  4. I just got a call from a customer that I quilted her king size quilt. She noticed that two of the rows that she pieced were wrong. She was wondering if she ripped out the quilting, took off the outer border, fixed her mistate, added the border back on, etc. if I could quilt only that portion again. Are you kidding me? That is what I wanted to say to her. Have you ever had this happen? What would you tell her? I told her more or less that she should leave it alone and live with it. She told me she was just sick about it and couldn't live with it.
  5. When you want to cover a lot of ground fast what panto do you use? Some of my favorites are: Mandarin Lace, Cascade & Featheration.
  6. I am thinking about exploring Bliss. Tell me what you love about it. Tell me what you hate about it. Please be honest. Is it worth the money? What have been some of the benefits you have gotten from it? Thank you.
  7. Please help me find the white haired man that sells needles. That is all I remember about him. I didn't save the post where he listed his website. Thank you.
  8. My customer picked up the quilt last night. When talking about how hard it was to quilt she asked me if the STARCH she sprayed on the fabric had anything to do with it. YES is sure did. Please don't do that again. I always wash batik backs from customers whether they ask me to or not. Saves me trouble in the long run.
  9. I had two quilts this weekend that were made with stiff batik fabrics. Obviously they didn't pre-wash the fabric. I had a bugger of a time quilting them. The thread would break. I'd loosen the tension and then I got loops on the back and top. It was just awful. So, my question to you all is this...have you had this problem and if so what did you do to fix it? I can't wait for the responses because I forsee this happening again. Thank you.
  10. I took all of the advice on here and talked the customer into splitting it into two quilts. I am so thankful for all of the input here on the forum. I will know in the future just to say no right from the start and not let it get this far. Thanks again to everyone.
  11. I have a customer that has two t-shirt quilt tops that she wants made into one quilt. Has anyone done this before? Any trouble? Any advice? Should I turn it away? Thanks for your help.
  12. That is why we do what we do. What a great story. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Good Morning! A couple weeks ago I purchased an anti-fatigue mat. I love it! It makes me want to put them all the way around my machine so I never have to walk on the concrete ever again. The one I got is 12 feet long. He had a booth at the MQS show in 2010 but didn't this year. Super nice guy. I have a pdf that I can email anyone that is interested. I can't figure out how to attach it here. I am not affiliated in anyway, just super happy with the results. Also, for more information you can contact Tim Tompkins ph. 612.963.5031 or
  14. This forum keeps costing me more and more money. I just ordered nine.
  15. I just ordered a bunch of those bags that Linda sent the link to. I can't wait to try them. I have been using the Ziploc XL bags but at $5.24/box of four bags that adds up. These look wonderful. Thanks so much for the great info on this forum.
