Thread breaking - easy fix

I was quilting along using Rainbow on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin. It took a lot of fiddling to get the tensions right but things were humming just find until the bobbin ran out of thread. I changed the bobbin and the top thread kept breaking every few inches. Since I had just changed the bobbin I thought that was the problem but it was wound OK and pulled at about the right tension. I gave the top thread a pull and it was tight so I started tracing back and found the problem was the top thread had wound around the wire spring on the tension disk. Just passing this on as one more thing to check when the thread is misbehaving!
