jmyhogan
Precious Quilts. On the pink and green quilt is the quilting a pattern or did you freehand it?? I really like the look but I don't think I could ever freehand it that nice.
Sandra Darlington
Wow! Thanks for so many compliments. Jim-The quilting was totally freehand. I took some lecture/demo classes at MQX in April and the main message I got from the classes was to "just do it." I practiced a bit on paper and then just took off trying whatever came into my head. One of the teachers said if you make a bit of a mistake (as long as it looks OK), move along and do it at least two more times on the quilt and it will look like it was planned. I thought that was great advise. It was really lots of fun to feel "free" to just play. And, the worst thing that could have happened (aside from a hole) was that it would be a mess and I would then just give it to my 2.5 year old granddaughter to drag around while watching TV and playing, instead of using it as a gift. The colors are still pretty and the Minkee is still soft. I think that attitude took all the pressure off so I could really just enjoy what I was doing. So Jim, my advise for you is to load a small charity quilt and "go for it." Have fun with it.
