Busy Quilting
What a surprise to see my first APQS swap quilt resurface in the 1930's post! Candi asked the questionof how to load a top with ice cream cone borders. I load mine the same as any top. I fully float the top. The backing and batting are still straight the ice cream cones/ swags etc are not cut until after the top is quilted. My first ice Cream cone border I turned under a 1/4" on the front and the back and whiop stitched closed. I didn't know different it was only my second quilt top! NOW I know to make a bias binding - single fold is easier, you will need to pivot and arrange each of the inner corner points, for a neat finish. Candi
Thanks for your reply! I thought I might have to use bias-cut binding. I gather that the binding will have to be 'fooled' with for each individual point? I want to do a very nice job for this lady. It was made by her now-deceased mother and she is going to give it as a gift to her granddaughter. NO PRESSURE, huh?
