Nadine
Hi from the outside, at least, the Brother SE400 looks like it's a pretty cool machine. Not too expensive (i.e. under $400) and well featured. I plan to take a close up look at my local dealer, but was wondering whether anyone here has any first hand experience of this machine? Any thoughts shared will be most gratefully rec'd!! Thanks
JustSewSimple
I know nothing about this particular machine but it being a Brother and under $400. it sounds like a winner. I noticed on OverStock.com it is just over $250.
dancingraisin
Nadine--check out several machines at your dealer! Brother dealers carry additional machines that are not offered mass market. I bought an quilting edition machine (sorry, I'm at work and don't know the number) a few years ago for about $800 and have found it well made: solid and reliable. I upped my budget from my original plan to buy a machine that was about $400 ( something 40, then sold only by dealers) when I test drove both machines and decided that the solidity and "sound" of the more expensive machine merited the added expenditure since I was moving up from a more basic machine. But the "something 40" would have been fine.
