I am thinking maybe some curly q's in the corner squares and terry twists in the 4 flying geese but have no ideas for the center square. I am not good at feathers and this is for a client. I don't think she want anything to dense like pebbles either just something simple it is a Christmas present for her sister. Mary Thanks in advance for any help. And then CC in the red of the geese and the corner squares unless you want to put a swirl motif in the corner squares from the stencil design. I would keep it simple.
