Monofilament thread in bobbin?

Recommended Posts

A customer brought me a quilt to quilt. It has black sashing and a light colored backing fabric. She has asked me if I could use black thread on the top and monofilament thread in the bobbin. Has anyone out there tried this? Does it work?

I suppose you could do that, but I'd be more inclined to try a matching shade of Bottom Line. It's as fine as monofilament and, if it matches, you wouldn't see it much anyway. But, I suppose in most cases, the customer should get what they want. If you use a poly-based mono like Superior's Monopoly, you may have better luck. I've not used mono in the bobbin yet.
