ssissenwein
I am a newbie and have a fun quilt I am trying to get done for my SIL. It is a rather freeform sampler with lots of fun fabrics - many relevant to things her daughters like - and lots of family pictures. The center has a large grid of brightly colored squares that are surrounded by a border and a row of squares. The outside row of squares I am doing in a continuous curved outline. I am writing family names in the border. I thought I would practice with the Hartley fence and put 2 intersecting rings in the center with a patterned fill around them. (Symbolizing marriage and family) The problem is the block is larger than the distance between the rollers. How do you center a design in a block you can't completely see? Should I quilt everything else and SID the center and go back to it after I un-pin the top? Do I just choose a freeform design? This really is a fun quilt to work on and I hope I am doing it justice. Thanks for any advice, Sara
