Charge for Basting

Recommended Posts

What do you all charge for basting a quilt to be hand quilted? (I did a search with no luck)

It seems that it would take almost as many steps and nearly the same amount of time as doing a simple allover meander and you would need to charge about the same.

Any thoughts?

Hi. I own a George so my friend with a Gammill longarm bastes my quilts for me. She has been a longarm quilter for hire for 15 years now. Generally her prices are at the low end of the spectrum. She charges $35-$45 to baste a quilt depending on size. She sets her machine at the longest possible stitch and bastes in lines about 5" apart. Since she uses bobbin thread that will disappear when the quilt is washed (or wet) this technique works for hand or push-through machine quilters. Hope this is helpful to you, Nancy
