nannyt
What do you all charge for basting a quilt to be hand quilted? (I did a search with no luck) It seems that it would take almost as many steps and nearly the same amount of time as doing a simple allover meander and you would need to charge about the same. Any thoughts?
chickenscratch
I would have to charge close to what I charge for all over meandering, or very close to that price because it takes me so long to load, roll, pin, roll, unload. The actual quilting doesn\'t take long on all over meander.
Mrs.A
Hi. I own a George so my friend with a Gammill longarm bastes my quilts for me. She has been a longarm quilter for hire for 15 years now. Generally her prices are at the low end of the spectrum. She charges $35-$45 to baste a quilt depending on size. She sets her machine at the longest possible stitch and bastes in lines about 5" apart. Since she uses bobbin thread that will disappear when the quilt is washed (or wet) this technique works for hand or push-through machine quilters. Hope this is helpful to you, Nancy
yeoldeforest
Going rate around here is 1/2 cent per square inch with a minimum of $35 to $50...there has been some great posts on this and different ways people baste...I\'ll see if I can find it. No pricing on the post below but I think it has different basting techniques http://www.apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=10076&page=1#pid90994
