  1. Due to illness, I have not been quilting in a while. Up for your consideration is a large batch of OMNI. Most have never been used. Some wrappers are missing as they were likely shipped to me from Superior Threads in loose crinkly plastic bags around the cone instead of the shrink wrap. I will also include an OMNI 172 color chart with actual threads. I did do some highlighting on the color chart of the colors that I had at one time and the chart is cut a little bit so that it would fit into my binder. I am asking $450 for all 51 cones plus shipping,, or $10 a cone plus shipping.

    Buyer will be responsible for shipping and insurance (if insurance is desired). I will not be held responsible once the thread has left my hands. Shipping from California.

    I will accept Paypal, check, or money order. Funds must clear before shipping

    ** I have used these 2 cones (blue ice and steel blue) before but there is plenty left on the cones. The other 49 cones I believe are all new, never used.

  2. I paid $1199 for my Pfaff Grandquilter new, years ago. The Viking is supposed to be the same machine. I adored my PGQ. It did an fabulous good piecing and quilting on the frame. But the 9 inch throat was really limiting. I wish I had kept  it for piecing.

    I, too, would steer her towards a slightly larger throat. There are so many used machines to chose from these days at great prices. I bet she will find something she loves!

    Linda, it seems there was a gal in the town of Brookings who was selling her Millie in case your friend is interested. It may have sold already but possibly is worth a shot.

  3. Meg, I kind of agree with Lyn about some of SS's ideas. I don't know if yellow oil means there is paraffin in it as I think paraffin is white or colorless. I wonder where she heard this? Maybe it is true, I certainly have no idea. But my Nolting came with clear mineral oil and this is what I use on my machine. One thing I think I understand about mineral oil is that it too has paraffin in it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    EDITED and not sure what I did with the rest of my first post????? Ack!!
    Well that was a dumb statement from me. Obviously, paraffin is a byproduct of fossil fuel. And "sewing machine oil" is made from fossil fuel. Same for mineral oil. What I meant was I'm not sure that the YELLOW color comes from paraffin. Probably is just a different grade of oil to be weary of using when there are better grades to use. That's my guess. My doorbell was sounding as I was typing and I didn't go back and re-read and fix my post.
    I hope no one took my post as a knock on SS as I didn't mean it that way. She quilts and designs better than I could ever in my wildest dreams. Maybe one day I will see one of her quilts in person. That would be pretty dang cool.
    EDITED AGAIN: I remember the other part of my post that I somehow deleted. I was saying that  Dawn has posted about using WD-40 to clean out the bobbin area and then reoiling well. I'm thinking this is the "degunking" method for oil buildup that creates "gumming up."
    Oh and SS quilts on a Prodigy (not a Nolting). Prodigy has created a model named after her.
  4. I'm with Linda and Lyn, I love love love my Karen Kay Buckley scissors! I have them in both sizes but use the larger ones the most. You can stack a few layers of fabric together and cut through without the fabrics shifting, so those projects that need a million of one piece, the scissors make it easy. And they cut through paper and fabric without worrying you will mess up the sharpness of the blade as they are serrated.
  5. I like Linda's idea.
    For some reason, these are hard to sell, even cheap! I had a Pfaff Grand Quilter, basically the same machine, on a Proflex frame. Tons of extras, probably $500 in extras. I listed it on Sew Its For Sale for a mere $800. A nice gal from Idaho drove down and bought it. She was the only one interested. Hard to believe. Then a year or two later I replaced the machine because I missed piecing on it.
    If you don't need the money, it might be a better deal for you to keep the machine, toss the frame, and have fun piecing with your Viking. These sew through a lot of layers and you can make awesome purses, totes, sew jeans easily, etc.
