Wow that is a wonderful and noble thing to do.  I praise you for honoring her as she honors our Veterans!   Freedom isn't free and most young people have no idea what that really means!  My accolades  to you alll!

Pamela, It's okay for your mojo to just sit down for a while. It is not required to "be productive" all of the time. You have just come off of the holidays, coping with your husband's surgery and recovery, and whatever else may be going on, and your energy and coping reservoir have been drained. It's okay to rest. When I complete a quilt or have no customer quilts staring at me, I sometimes feel a little lost. I have been known to just go into my studio, sit down at the sewing machine, talk to Miss Margie (Millie), or just look around. Usually, there is something to put away or to read or to touch or something, and my interest begins to be renewed. If you really want to get moving - invite a quilting buddy (someone you don't have to clean house for) to come and spend the day sewing. You will enjoy the company while you get to play with fabric.
    Blessings!

Here is the latest quilt I just completed for one of the guilds I belong to...the quilt will be raffled off at our November quilt show so I decided to do some custom quilting to really make it pop...It includes lots of ruler work, ditch work, a bit of curved ruler work with pebbles and ribbon swirls...in the solid areas and feathers in the remaining areas...I love the way it turned out and hopefully it will help sell some raffle tickets for our charity...

It must be picture day today!  I just finished binding this quilt I finished quilting right before Christmas. Yesterday was finally dry enough with a little break through light in the clouds so ran outside for pictures. This quilt is a takeoff of the SKOW Moroccan Vibe, enlarged to fit our bed to 96”x 117. This was the quilt I asked so many questions here about double batting and hopping foot height etc.   It was certainly a learning experience in so many ways.  Quilted on Lenni.

It is finally finished and will be judged next week at the “Road to California” quilt shop
I am so proud of this quilt.  I paper pieced it using Harboured Lighthouse pattern by Quiltworx
It was made to thank my husband for his years of service in the United States Coast Guard
I machine quilted it using my new Millennium and was hand guided. I do not have a computer on my long arm.

    Hello!
I am finally finding my way back here after a long hiatus! I joined after getting my Millie in January 2014. But in June 2014, my 4 month old nephew Isaac was diagnosed with SMA 1-a terminal, genetic disorder. It is the #1 genetic killer of children under the age of two. At the time, my sister and BIL were told to take him home and love him and he probably only had 6-8 months. Well, due to intense care by my sister, BIL, in home nurses, constant prayer and support of people from around the world and now one year of a miracle drug called Spinraza, Isaac will turn four in February! He uses Bipap to breathe, is fed through a g-tube, and can only move his thumbs, shrug his shoulders and move his head slightly side to side, but he is showing small gains each month. I have run a GoFundMe account for the family since his diagnosis which has helped immensely as my sister has only recently been able to return to work and my BIL stays at home with Isaac and his older sister.
If you are still reading-thank you! And I am happy to be back here! I am looking to improve my free motion skills as well as ruler work.
Here are a few of the quilts I have done. Violet Craft’s Lion for my nephew-we’ve called him Our Little Lion since birth. I used channel locks and did straight lines every 1/4”-1/2”
Quilt for our school auction. Kids drew the blocks, I pieced and quilted.
t-shirt quilt for a customer. Pieced and quilted
pieced and quilted for a family member-channel locks again-approximately every 1”

It's fun to brag on our husband's, I'm also blessed to have a very wonderful husband!  Years ago he bought my Gammil without asking me if I even wanted it.  A month ago I got a brand new GMC Denali Yukon, I love it and Him!

Here are a couple of pics of a recently quilted customer quilt.  She did machine applique quilt monopoly thread.  I thought it was a super cute quilt.  It has one layer of Hobb's wool batting and was quilted with the Metro Pro Thread.

I love ruler work. So I have way more rulers than anyone should but that is partly because I didn't wait and see what was out there and what I would like.  Lin is right take your time and do get a ruler base.  My favorite rulers are ones with handles, such as Quilters Apothecary or ...
I can't think of the other brand but if you start looking you'll find them.

This baby quilt was done for a first time quilter. My customer made this for her very first grand-daughter who is due later this month. Unfortunately, she had not understood or forgotten that the LQS told her to leave extra fabric and batting on all edges of the quilt.  Actually I think she simply followed instructions on how to prepare her quilt if she was quilting it on her domestic machine... She really wasn't quite sure but anyways...
When she called me she told me that the quilt had been trimmed/basted and pinned and was ready for me! Yikes! Well, I said "bring it over and let's have a look and see what we can do". Thankfully she had left enough backing on the top and bottom so that I could add fabric to the backing to be able to load the quilt with my leader grips. There was barely enough extra on the sides and I was able to quilt it and keep it square without having to add extra fabric. I literally had about 1/2" of backing on each side... Had to watch QP VERY carefully as it quilted near the edges!
It was quilted with Yipee Ki Yay panto by Patricia Ritter.   Superior So Fine on top and Magna-Glide bobbin on bottom.
    Thanks for looking.
