chickenscratch
About a year ago I saw Eleanor Burns show how to flip the excess backing to the front and bind the quilt with it. I can't find the instructions anywhere. If I remember correctly it involved creating a backwards miter on the four corners. Is anybody familiar with this technique, or do you know where I can find the instructions. Thanks
lizziesgirl
Teresa, My Mamawl always did her quilts this way and unfortunately I never got a chance to learn from her. I am interested in this one also.
juliagraves
My guild does this for our charity quilts. 1. Trim the batting about 1/2" from the top, and the backing about 1 1/2" to 2" from the top. Don't cut the backing when you're trimming the batting. 2. Fold the backing over to meet the batting, then fold again over the batting and cover up 1/4" of the top. Pin down. 3. At the corners, fold one side of the backing even at 90 degrees, and fold the other at 45 degrees to form the miter. Pin. 4. Stitch down from the front near the edge of the backing to catch all the layers. Julia
