Quilt Talk's Latest Edition Discusses Safe Ruler Use

Recommended Posts

Great article. I didn't know about #5 either. I will try that. I tend to only use my left hand to move the ruler and my right hand to move the machine. I can get really twisted up and try to have the ruler behind the foot. I will need to practice switching hands. I realize it will make it so much easier. Thanks a lot.

Thank you so much for the article Dawn. I get sort of anxious when I need to do ruler work. I hit the ruler with the needle once and it really scared me! I turned my machine off and didn't touch it for a couple of days! Luckily, the timing wasn't goofed up. Needless to say, I approach ruler work vveeeerrrryyyy carefully now!

Betsy,

Glad your machine is running well!

Actually, it would take some major "thunking" to throw the machine out of time, but it does happen on occasion. I think the worst part is the sound and as you pointed out, how it "scares" you. I hope that by sharing some practice tips, more quilters will be less afraid of SID. It really does get easier!

Happy quilting!
