socanterrisew
Has anyone quilted with terry cloth as the top piece of a quilt? I was asked to quilt a memory quilt with towels received from sporting events. I am planning to use a stabilizer for the towels. Should I use a batting, and any suggestions for backing? All input will be appreciated. Thank you.
Neher-in-law5
I don't know a thing about quilting on terry cloth, but wonder if the foot would or could get caught in the loops and snags of the towels. Depending on the size of the terry pieces you might want to use a washable stabilizer on the top of the terry. Use the cheapest since you would need quite a bit and you aren't trying to hold stitches down like an embroidery design. The washable would save you bunches of time over removing press and seal, etc.
Buttonflower
If it's an all over design, could you put the terry on ythe bottom? -no experience, just wondering. Buttonflower
Guest Linda S
I've never done this personally, but I have heard of people quilting two bath towels together for a bath mat. Any tripping up of the hopping foot would be determined by the size of the loop in the terry cloth. I think most towels these days have small loops.
