Bonnie H
I tried quilting with Rainbow thread last night and noticed I had two burrs in my throat plate so I ordered some crocus cord from Mitchell Abrasives. The person on the phone recommended the Crocus Cord -52C for polishing and 52 aluminum oxide for getting the burrs out of needle plates, so that's what I have coming. Has anyone used these kinds of products? I'm wondering if it will take too much metal off the needle hole? Thankfully, I did get the Rainbow to work beautifully, even with the burrs! Usually I run my bobbin at about 180-190 on the TOWA but I went down to 130 and really loosened the top tension. I never figured I could run the bobbin that loose! I'm happy it's working as this thread is beautiful.
micajah
Bonnie, I've used these type products - maybe not the same exact numbers as yours, but crocus cloth and cord and polish. Used it to shine and smooth vintage needle plates on my treadles. Just don't get "happy" and use too much pressure. Debbie
