Slodge
Someone mentioned about using maxi-lock thread for quilting and, because I haven't tried it, I was wondering what others thought when they used it. I have an Ultimate I and it seems like I have quite a bit of thread breakage unless I use Sewers Aid on the cone - I have used Superior, YLI, etc. Thanks for any help. chickenscratch
I run Maxi Lock through my Ultimate II when I'm not worried about high thread quality. It works just fine. No tension adjustments needed. It is alot easier to sew with than something like King Tut or Rainbows, in my opinion.
Stagecl
I have run maxi-lock on my Millie...it runs fine. I use it only when I need a certain color I can't find. I can't remember why it is not as strong as a 40wt cotton. It might have to do with the number of ply's of thread twisted together. Keep in mind that it is designed for serging with 3 or more other spools of thread...giving it more strength. Just a thought...Robinson-Anton thread comes in over 400 colors...the high sheen poly...we ran it on the machines in the digitizing class and it worked great. I haven't tried it at home, but I am going to get a few cones. King Tut has never caused me any problems...I have more issues with Rainbows...like thread breaking.
