jajab
Hey everybody, I was getting ready to do a pricing brochure for my customers and came across some terminology that I am not sure what it is and what to charge. Can you help? Got info from training class. Leafing? Crosshatching? I assume leafing is leaves together? Thanks, Angela
quiltmonkey
Hi Angela. I think that leafing would be like meandering freehand leaf patterns. Crosshatching are the background quilting lines that usually run diagonal from corner to corner to form small diamond shapes in the background -- like a filler. I've seen these mostly on applique quilts, and amish quilts, but I've also seen crosshatching inside a feathered wreaths. I'm not sure what you would charge because I don't have my LA (yet...), but I would assume that crosshatching is much more time and labor intensive than meandering freehand leafing. Two different things, so probably two different charges.
