Sparkle
My Ultimate II is doing an odd thing. I have it the speed set at approx. 4-to 6 on the dial. When I first start quilting it sustains this speed fine, but after a few rows of quilting it will suddenly speed up ---or down on it's own. After a while it will revert back to a normal speed. It can do this many times while quilting. My husband has checked the connections to the speed dial. We have rotated it back and forth quickly while it is off and blew air around the dial just in case there is any dust or something like that making it do this. It appears to be an electrical problem --perhaps? Does anyone have any ideas? I tried calling APQS today, but no one was available, and I wasn't home later to take a return call. Just thought I would post it here too for feedback. Thank you.
John Mitchell
I think the brushes in the motor are going bad. They do wear out. Have you replaced them in the past? John
Sparkle
Thank you for your quick response John. Haven't checked those yet. We will do that today. I recently purchased this machine used locally, and I'm not sure what maintence was done on it. It has seen a lot of use in the past so more than likely it is the brushes. SherryRogers
Hi Sparkle Another thing to check is the moter itself. I have heard APQS suggest a stronger moter in the past for this situation and I also seem to recall replacing the reostat. Try to call Mark or Amy when you can. They will know for sure what the problem is. I am only guessing!
