catsigler Posted July 28, 2007 Report Share Posted July 28, 2007 For my floating boxes wall hanging quilt, I decided to use some polyester walmart batting, thinking it doesn't matter because it's "just a wall hanging." And besides, it was just the right width. I got the quilt pinned and attached the zipper leaders, and as I was loading it on the frame, I noticed a lot of lint on the quilt back from the batting. I got the tape roller to remove the lint, but it seemed to be adding lint rather than removing it! Then I realized that the "lint" was not lint, but BEARDING!!!! Oh, well, better to see that now than after it's quilted. I had planned to use that batting (a whole bolt of it!) for charity quilts. Guess I'll put it on the freebie table at guild with an appropriate warning and let someone else figure out what to do with it. P.S. Forgot to mention the quilt background and backing is black, and the polyester is white. but I wouldn't want black polyester bearding either, so glad I saw it.
