countrystitcher
Recently I was in the airport and picked up a book of short stories called "Quilts Are Forever" by Kathy Lamancusa. The cover naturally caught my eye because had a quilt on it. This is very inspiring and full of warm stories. One story tells of a woman who hand-quilted quilts for $.75 - the entire quilt top! She hand-quilted her last top at age 95. Least we complain when we feel we get cheated for our long-arm quilting time and prices. Puts things in perspective! Anyone want to share books they have read and enjoyed about quilting? Sharon
willbegfrofabric
You are so right! It breaks my heart when I see some of the hand quilted quilts in stores for bargin prices. You just kniow the work is imported from overseas, impoverished women working for pennies to sustain their families. How can people support such a thing? Cheryll
My grand mother told stories of women in the depression quilting quilts for people on their treadles for 1.00. that was stitch in the ditch with lots of small pieces. I still have some of them.
