MarieBrewer
How tight do you make your elastic straps that fasten to the side of the quilt back? Just finished a wall hanging and I have puckers in it. For such a small thing I thought it would be perfect. It's easier to work on a quilt! JudyL
Marie: I keep my straps just tight enough to hang on to the quilt. If you've ever forgotten to attach the strap, you'll notice that when you move towards the center of the quilt while quilting, the quilt wants to wiggle in the direction you're moving. I use my straps just to hold the backing snug . . not really super tight. And, if I have a smaller quilt, I sometimes add some extra pieces of elastic. Otherwise, the straps would be pulling too tightly on the backing. To add the extra piece, I just release the straps from the table, feed in about a 14 piece of elastic, use a safety pin to attach the ends together and . . I have longer straps. SherryRogers
Adding a long pin at the end of the elastic straps will also prevent them from pulling through the lever. Hated when that happened.
