April W
I have a quilt to work on for a family reunion raffle. All family members were asked to make a block for this quilt. Some have iron on transfer pictures, some hand embroidery, some crayon drawings and some have heavy machine embroidery over most of the block (10-12"). Any suggestions? Should I stay totally off the iron -ons and heavy embroidery?
April W
Come on ladies...surely I'm not the only one that has received a quilt like this.
Quilting Heidi
April, This must have gotten buried. I think that I would stitch as little on the iron stuff as possible. Any frogging will definitely show! For the embroidery that is too big of a block to not quilt in so I'd use a clear thread and add in where it looks appropriate. Good luck! Bekah
April, I agree with Heidi about using clear thread and light quilting. You could even do a very simple large meander of some sort over the entire quilt so all the blocks get the same treatment. Good luck
RitaR
April, I've not worked with photo blocks, but I have worked with embroidery and agree with Heidi.. clear thread or match the background color to quilt just enough to secure the whole block. i tend to go one step more just because they are so heavy. Sounds pretty, hope you will post a pict when you are done. Very interested. ritaR
