  1. Madelyn, Maddie is doing really well. She came to stay with me last weekend, it had been a while. I couldn't believe how much she grew, now almost 5' tall! She is just as sweet as always and is such an easy kid. It was the first time she actually talked to me about her mother and the whole situation. I know she loves her mom but she also knows that it wasn't her fault. She told me that mommy "made bad choices." She knows it wasn't daddy or I trying to keep her from her mom too. It is amazing she is such a good kid. Hopefully I'll see her more now.
  2. Cathy you are so kind to continue to pray for our family. We have been so blessed and when I think how scared we were 1 1/2 years of what was to come I'm just so thankful to all those that lifted Landon up in prayer and I truly believe that made a difference. He is the sweetest little guy who is always willing to share a big wet kiss. We so enjoy the twins. Yes it is exhausting and by Friday I'm worn out but getting my baby snuggles times two is just so wonderful. I'm up and about all day but the babies are no different than other kids, as soon as you sit down and they think you have nothing to do they want up in your lap to help you do what your doing. LOL We are enjoying every minute of this wonderfulness.
  3. Gail yes I have an older machine 2008. I had Dave service my machine and he did it before he started being unreliable, sadly I would not recommend him anymore :-(. APQS provides really good directions. I really do love the new ruler foot.
  4. Lin I can't imagine living that far north. It is too cold here in upstate NY for me. LOL The babies miss being outside every day like we have been. I hope you arm heals and you can get back to quilting. I know I've missed it.
  5. Well I came to the forum for the first time in months and I'm shocked at the attacks on Jessica and her brother David and even Deloa. I consider them all friends. Judi I'm truly sorry that you don't have a working machine but that is 100% Dave Jones and sadly those related to him are paying the price...not fair. I have to say that you will NOT find more honest people than Jessica or her brother David and any attempt to link them to their father's poor business just isn't fair or necessary. Deloa's business is actually now separate from Dave's business. Deloa is in fact married to Dave but I can tell you that she is not a malicious person, not a thief and sadly has no control over the horrible things her husband has done. I am sorry that she has had to deal with all his bad deals and being put in the position she is in because she is one of the nicest people I know. Jessica didn't even have to come to this website and warn anybody about her father and I'm sure it hurt her to have to do that. She did it because she cares about others and would NEVER do anything bad to anybody and certainly doesn't condone her father's poor choices. Coming from a family that isn't always on the up and up I can tell you I sure wouldn't want to be dragged into their stuff like this and it just isn't fair. Please don't attack David and Jessica, they are really good people and don't deserve to be treated like this. Yes I will agree that Dave has problems and has done horrible things but Jessica and David shouldn't be sucked into it. If I knew how to service the machine I would head to Judi's house and try to get her up and running. I'm sorry it happened.
  6. Hi All, It has been so long since I've been on the forum. I don't get much computer time these days. I keep my daughter's twins who are now 16 months old!!!! No idea where that time went. For all my old friends that followed Landon's story, he is doing great! It has now been 1 year since he had his open heart surgery and he is thriving. He is such a little charmer. He will probably still need more surgery but for now we are so thankful for how well he is doing. Scarlett is doing wonderfully too. They both have brought so much joy to our family. Most days I'm crazy busy chasing them around. We finally moved into our new home 11 months ago and my studio is set up. I haven't gotten a ton of quilting time in but hoping in the new year I will be able to get at it again. We just built a baby cave for the babies and they can play while I sew and quilt. I've had it up just over a month and oh it is a little bit of heaven for them and for me! Once the craziness that surrounds the Christmas season I'll have time to focus on my quilting again. I hope all of you are doing well. Just wanted to say hi.
  7. I finally ordered one and I didn't regret it at all. It works so much better with rulers.
  8. When I still quilted for others, haven't in several years now, I started charging by the hour, $25. I would give them an estimate range of the number of hours I anticipated but always made sure I added 5 hours because it is a moving target for sure. Once I had a lot of custom quilts under my belt I could better gauge the number of hours their quilt might take.
  9. David I hope the waters are receding in your area. The pictures and videos are just unbelievable. I can't imagine how emotional it is for those affected. It is emotional for me and I'm far away and don't have any loved ones in TX. Praying for you all.
  10. Nice job Terry. I'm sure your mother will love it. I loved seeing the drawing too. I do that often just to get an idea of where I want things to go.
  11. Cathy, Thank you so much for the continued prayers. I appreciate them so much. We truly are blessed that Landon is doing so well. I don't know if you saw the story about the little boy who had a heart transplant, he was a big baseball fan, well he had the same condition that Landon has. It really reminded me how lucky we have been. Landon's heart is functioning and he didn't have to have the surgeries and we pray that it will stay that way. He is just the brightest light and oh so lovable. I too still have dream puff and still like it for warmth and puff but the wool is amazing. It washes up so nicely too. That is what I used on the baby quilts too. I've never had a problem and my quilts are meant to be used and washed.
  12. Awe thanks Libby. These were fun to do and they went together so quickly. The twins don't have many words yet but they say mama and Nana LOL wonder how that happened?
  13. Shana that is really interesting. I wonder if it has to do with location. I know that when we had this problem I had hubby call several times to make sure we were covered.
  14. Rosemary Thank you so much. Sometimes it is really hard to get anything done but they go home at 5 so I get a break. I love them so much though and wouldn't trade this time with them. Hopefully as they get a little bigger they will enjoy playing while I'm quilting. I have a nice playroom in the works for them right next to my quilting area. I love when they take longer naps so I get more solid time to quilt without interruption but you know this time goes by quickly. I can't believe they are already a year old.
  15. Wow Dell 3 sets of twins?! They are a lot of fun and I really enjoy spending so much time with them, although I can say I'm exhausted by the end of the day. I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope the new boys are doing well and get to come home soon.
  16. Hahaha Kathy you have no idea how irresistible they are. That Landon sure knows how to melt your heart and turn on the charm when he is into something he isn't supposed to be in. LOL
  17. Here are a few of the twins with their quilts giving them hugs and kisses.
  18. Thanks Connie. They sure have grown. I'm so happy all my grands love their quilts.
  19. Hi Rosemary, I used minkie (silly spell check and I didn't catch it) for the giraffe and the rest are just cottons. QD wool is pretty much all I use any more. It provides great loft and is so cozy. Even my hubby noticed the difference.
  20. Betsy thank you. Landon is doing fantastic. They are starting to take him off his heart meds and we'll see what happens from there. His mitral valve seems to be doing very well and he is handling the regurgitation ok. He isn't walking yet on his own but he will go places if he can hold onto one finger or one of his toys. LOL He is a busy boy that is for sure. He is also the most lovable little boy. He loves to be rocked and loves his snuggles. Scarlett isn't always thrilled with his hugs and kisses. Thanks for asking.
  21. Thank you Cagey. I kept my quilting at 1/2" spacing which helps with the density, except for the filler in the diamonds. I also used wool which is always snuggly.
  22. When we talked to USAA they said my business stuff would be covered under our homeowners insurance. My husband spoke with several people before finally just saying ok. It is too bad that the rates have to go up so much. I don't have a home business anymore because it just wasn't worth all the hassle.
