Hi Cagey,.... I really liked working with the Foam Lining,.... It gave the piece nice texture and will work perfect for Framing,..... yes,... the piece was already scalloped on the edges,.... took about 1- 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish,... Thanks for looking,..... -

Hi Lisae,.... I did not mark this piece,... this piece only measures @ 12" x 17" so I just followed the design in the piece,... Used freehand straighline for the outer border,... In the body of the piece,... I wanted a focus,... so used a curved ruler to make the Double Pinched Square,... which left me with the area for the rolling feathers,.... Decided to stipple the background to really make the feathers Pop! then did the Feather motif in the Center,.... and instead of stippling the background,... decided to go with pebbles for something different,.... In total,... it took about 1- -
Needed to take a break and do something for me,... so loaded this little linen last night and played,... I tried a couple new things to see how it would turn out,..... Layered the piece on silk to see how it would play together and I really liked the framing effect,... then, instead of Batting,... I used the the foam liner,... I believe it is called Bosal Foam or Soft and Stable Foam (The stuff used to line bags and purses} Wanted to see how my Milli would handle it and I was pleased with the results... It gave the piece some defined texture,... but was not bulky in any way,.... Di

Wow!!! I just LOVE this Customer Quilt!!!! It is a smaller wallhanging,... but boy does it pack a Punch!!! The COLOR! {my Favorite} The Embroidery {Wow! Just Wow!!} I used a double layer of Quilters Dream Wool to give it a nice loft. Then of Course,... Glide Thread in Prickly Pear and Cerulean,.... I kinda plan as I go,... so let this one just speak to me. I knew I wanted to break up the space to really add some texture Of course,... I had to throw in some featherwork! Continuous Curve in the Turquoise squares,.... Pebbling,.. Stippling, and McTavishing,... Oh,... and continu

Glide magna bobbins
Laura Farnham replied to Sheila S.'s topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
If you have a local source for Glide! threads,... I would ask if they carry the bobbins as well,... or,.. If they would be willing to order in for you,.... If not,... You can find an online retailer that carries Fil-tec and order from them..... I purchase mine from Myrna Ficken at www.aquilterschoice.com Hope this helps,..... Have a great day,... Laura -
Glide magna bobbins
Laura Farnham replied to Sheila S.'s topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
The Classics are wound with Bobbin Line thread,.... yes,.. it is thinner,.... I make a quick adjustment on the top tension for Selected top thread,... and start quilting,.... the Bobbin thread just melts into the backing fabric,..... I believe you get a consistent 127 yds on each "L" bobbin,.... Not sure on the "M" bobbins,.... -

Thanks All,.... I was not sure how this one would turn out as it was on the Frame as I was deciding on designs,.... so pulling it off the frame was Highly anticipated!!! The feathers worked perfectly to fill in the open spaces,... they block seams made for perfect spines to follow,.... and Heidi,.... I agree,... the dresdans look like Tuffets to me as well!! Hi David,... I will try to get a full photo and post later today,..... Liam,... get it out and play,.... I use it to lay out the ground work on many of my custom quilts,... great for adding another layer

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the Hartley Fence!!!! It is perfect for laying out the groundwork for Custom Quilting!!! Perfect Circles every time!!!! I use it often when trying to add another layer of design. I took this quilt with some plain open space and just added Circles around the Dresdan Plates By simply adding the Arcs on the outer rings,... It gave this piece a border as well as new space to fill between the rings in the center!!!! Some Feathers,... Straight line work,.. Stipple and Curly Cues and this quilt went from everyday to WOW!!!! I used 1 layer of Quilters Dream

First time stitching on Silk,... wasn't too bad,.... My customer said she wanted feathers,..... the challenge was not being able to mark the spines,.... so I cut out the shape from paper and just laid on the quilt top,,, when I started stitching,... I would move paper and stitch in design,... worked well,.... and placement was pretty good,..... Used silk batting too.... Cotton backing,.... and Glide thread,....
