  1. Hi Jim,.... thanks for the info,.... Will see how this piece holds up,... working on Framing it today,....
  2. Hi Cagey,.... I really liked working with the Foam Lining,.... It gave the piece nice texture and will work perfect for Framing,..... yes,... the piece was already scalloped on the edges,.... took about 1- 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish,... Thanks for looking,.....
  3. Hi Lisae,.... I did not mark this piece,... this piece only measures @ 12" x 17" so I just followed the design in the piece,... Used freehand straighline for the outer border,... In the body of the piece,... I wanted a focus,... so used a curved ruler to make the Double Pinched Square,... which left me with the area for the rolling feathers,.... Decided to stipple the background to really make the feathers Pop! then did the Feather motif in the Center,.... and instead of stippling the background,... decided to go with pebbles for something different,.... In total,... it took about 1-1 1/2 hrs from start to complete,....
  4. Needed to take a break and do something for me,... so loaded this little linen last night and played,... I tried a couple new things to see how it would turn out,..... Layered the piece on silk to see how it would play together and I really liked the framing effect,... then, instead of Batting,... I used the the foam liner,... I believe it is called Bosal Foam or Soft and Stable Foam (The stuff used to line bags and purses} Wanted to see how my Milli would handle it and I was pleased with the results... It gave the piece some defined texture,... but was not bulky in any way,.... Did not have to adjust tension and it quilted super easy,...... I think I am going to be working with this stuff a lot in the future!..... I am attaching a couple pics of the piece,... and one of the back,..... I used a black cloth for the back,... Just a piece I had in a pile of linens,... the black came off on my hands as I handled the piece,.... and it changed the color of my Thread,... I used Glide,... in White,... but it stitched almost a pale grey blue,.... I like how it played with the piece,... so just kept stitching,..... Sometimes it is just fun to PLAY and try new things,..... Always something new to learn!!! Thanks for looking,...... Happy Quilting,.... Laura
  5. For those looking for my mistake,.... Which Feather is not like the others?....... :0) It was a simple mistake,.... and I did end up ripping out the stitches and re quilting the feather,....
  6. Hi Debbie,... If you look at the top Center Feather Inset,... I stitched the WRONG feather!!! All I can think is,... I must have stitched it out and then called it quits for the night,... then when I started again,... Started with the center and went from there,... did not realize it until I was photographing it!!!
  7. Update,..... I did point out mistake to customer and we both decided it needed to be fixed. so,... spent an afternoon picking out stitches, and 10 minutes to restitch the Feather,... I was happy to do it as it was my mistake,.... I always point out mistakes if any,.. big or small and let the customer decide,.... this one I knew she would want fixed,.... She is very pleased with the end result!!! and so am I!!! Thanks for looking ,.... Happy Quilting,... Laura Love the combination of the two,... Simple,.. with a pop!!! I used a double Cotton Batting on this one,.. wanted the feathers to stand up and take center stage,... Matching Glide Threads in the Grey, Burgundy and White Areas,... Thanks for looking,... ** can you see the mistake? Found it after I pulled it off the frame,.... :0)

  9. My Sewing table is actually a recycled Breakfast Counter. A Neighbor was remodeling his kitchen and put this 8 foot long cabinet out on the sidewalk. I told Bob that I "needed" that for the sewing room. He just smiled and went and brought it home. It has worked out wonderfully!!! On the Bar side, I have both machines set up and still have room for cutting. The other side has all the drawers and cubbies for my "STUFF". And it was FREE!!! The only set back may be the Height. It works great for me, ( I'm 6' tall as is Bob). Laura
