meg_marsh
Have finished the top of a small art quilt and now need to machine applique (DSM). I have some lightweight sheer pelon - fusible - . Would this be ok to use on the back? Will be finishing with normal LA work? or - would I be better off to use non-fusible and get rid of any extra stabilizer? I have never left the stabilizer in before -
Daisy2018
Why not use a wash away type, as many layers as you need to stabilize, then wash away before quilting. Has the advantage of not building up to be so stiff.. I've used several brands, don't notice much difference unless you are doing hoop embroidery, then I use the Oesd brand, available at sewing shops.. Good luck, Pat
meg_marsh
Pat - good idea - have used alot of the wash-away - just had slipped my mind. I guess I just leave it on & quilt through it?? Also, it may never be washed being an art quilt - it is a wall hanging.
IQ'd
Meg, They also have a type of stabilizer that irons off if your fabric can take heat.....that way there is no pulling on the embroidery and no wetting either.
