verylazydaisy
Hi all.. I just got a used ultimate I and I have sewn a few stitches.. I decided to put in a fresh needle and now I here a knocking or loud clicking sound, but only when pulling the machine towards myself.. I am working from the front.. Can this be happening because I have the needle in the wrong way? With no flat side to the shaft it's hard to tell which way it goes.. I didn't think to look at the old one well before removing it :-( I am brand spanking new to longarming! Thanks! daisy mier ultimate I
ffq-lar
Hi Daisy--the needle should have a scarf--an indentation which goes to the back. As the hook brings the bobbin thread around, it picks up the top thread at that indentation. Take out the needle and re-insert with the scarf at the back. Before you tighten the screw completely, place the point of a straight pin in the eye of the needle and turn the needle until the pin points absolutely straight towards the front. Tighten the screw and you should be good to go.

LinneaMarie
I kept hearing a sort of banging sound too. I finally realized my cord was hitting my machine as I moved back and forth (front to back). Fixed that with some blue tape that sticks to itself but not my Big Boy!
