cvrchota
when i turned on my machine this morning to warm it up, i noticed a rattling noise--like something is loose... i tracked the noise down as coming from toward the back of the black cylinder in the back of the machine (i removed the back cover). I don't think this will interfere with my quilting, and i can call apqs tomorrow, but just wondering if anything knows what this noise might be (i'd like to take advantage of my husband's help while he's home today)... thanks for any suggestions we might check! happy holidays! charla
nora123
ok I'll jump in. sometimes the screws that keep the lid on your machine get loose due to vibration. Try to tighten them all down both sides. If it is a rattle more than a hum I don't know what it is. hope this helps. cvrchota
that's the first thing we checked... after we took the cover off, it was still 'rattling'... can't really call it a rattle... sort of like a 'rasping'... and when i put my ear to the cylinder, it was coming from the back side of it... thanks, tho! nora123
on both sides of the motor there is a big screw. Inside is your motor brushes. Remove them both and blow out the area with canned air and reinstall them. Put them back the same way they came out. If this is not it at least you have removed one possibility.
