lcquilting
Well, I tried it....and I love it!!! It was soooo easy! My log cabin quilt (I'll post pic soon) measured out to be 95x125 so it is huge and adding the binding with LA made it so much easier then wrestling my DSM. Just thought I'd share....if you haven't tried it yet, I highly reccommend it!
anniemueller
How do you keep the seam consistent?
lcquilting
The video I watched on youtube showed either using a ruler or just using the edge of your foot as the 1/4" guide. I just used the foot. They don't recommend using the channels locks since a quilt is rarely square. Really saved me tons of time and frustration!! don't think I'll ever apply binding on the DSM again.
sspingler
I've started doing this on customer quilts and love it. You can also use your channel locks as an option if you have it. IF not you can use alligator clips clipped on either side of one of your wheels like I do.
Nadia Wilson
It is so easy to attach the binding with my Millie. I use my hopping foot as a guide to keep the seam consistent. I do however finish the last 12" on my DSM...because I like to have a bias join on my binding connecting the start and end of it. I then stitch the back by hand. qfairy
I've done this for over 6 years, but never use a ruler for the top and bottom..just pin and away i go. for the sides they come out more even the more you practice..I was scared at first but practiced on everyone I did til I can do them in my sleep now.. I do pin the bottom to hold it still while binding it. I do hand hem them all though, i think machine hemming is tacking. But I'm from the old School.
