PattyC
I really like my Simplicity bias tape maker, but find the roller doesn't hold very many yards. I usually make about 18-20 yards at a time. Because this many yards winds so large, the spool doesn't fit in the machine. So I hold it until enough yardage is pressed and I can drop the spool into the holders. So my question is: Has anyone developed/found a way to hold a spool with lots of yardage wound on it? RitaR
Hi PattyC LOL if kids need to be punished, used the following method with them.. if they are good kids as ALL quilters kids are today, then let.. Himself have a turn. Get hubby with a toidy paper roll or paper towel roll on a dowel, and turn it as it comes off the press. I too make many yards, and find the take up roller isn't very sufficient for my needs.. just for a youth quilt and smaller.
Starrynight Quilter
Patty C If your spool is hollow insert a knitting needle or any other round object that would be smaller in circumfrance and longer than your spool that extend out at both ends. That way you can hang on to it with both hands till enough has gone through. Hopefully this will help Marlene A.
dgroby
I love mine too, but haven't had that problem since I only make enough for one quilt at a time. However...I'll be watching for a solution - you never know
