CLRtoQuilt Posted August 14, 2006 Report Share Posted August 14, 2006 Hi sheilao, Two books that are really good to start with are Quilting Basics by Celia Eddy Learn to Machine Quilt by Sharon Chambers Another book that is really resourceful, loaded with suggestions from quilters all over the country is Encyclodedia of 63 Quilt Patterns and Designs by the Editors of FC&A Craft Publishing. Mary Beth Posted August 14, 2006 Report Share Posted August 14, 2006 Sheilao, Oh to see younger ladies interested in quilting, sewing, etc. I think one thing you can do, no matter the publication, is make it your own. If you are making a quit, don't select the fabric recommended, select fabrics you like. When you do this, it is so creative, then you don't have all these "cookie cutter" type quilts. Also, EQ5 would be a terrific way to make it your own. With EQ5 you can design your own patterns, audition fabrics you like, and who knows, you might be writing the next pattern book.
