cmkeindl1
I've blocked my quilt (85"x85"), it has some applique - I used double batts 80/20 and wool for definition. (how/when/will my applique shapes "poof"?) it looks good and square, just not as "puffy" as when I took it off the frame. I haven't bound it yet - any ideas? THANKS! I've attached a photo - see how the "piano keys" are a little wrinkley?
Corey
You will be happy once you hang & view the quilt vertical. Also if you block & spritz with water, the appliqué will sink a bit because of the weight of H20, worry not, air will circulate & it will poof back. Or you might want to add more or dense quilting around those appliqué. Just my thought. Another way is prior to quilting, you do baste extra batting under & around the appliqué, I use water soluble thread, cut away the extra batting around, then quilt as planned. cmkeindl1
Thank you Corey! I guess I'm just a little worried that maybe I shouldn't have blocked it cuz the applique was pretty and fluffy before I did?! BUT it does seem straighter and will probably hang better?!
