quiltnutt
I am doing the binding for a double wedding Ring that is all curves and scallops. the quilt is 110 by 110 straight measurement. All the binding will be bias and I feel that $3.00 per 12 inch is too cheap. what would you all charge. thanks
ffq-lar
What should you charge? More!! How about charging by the hour? Attaching the binding by machine is time-consuming with a scalloped edge. Can you do it in two hours? Or three? Then stitching the back by hand will take another three hours or so. Without the curves calculated in, 440" is 37 feet times $3.00 is $$111.00. I think charge $25 per hour and then six hours will be $150. It might take more than six hour though.... Darlene Zimmerman has great hints for DSM attaching of bias binding to scallops and curves. No pleats in the top and a perfect pivot in the sharp corners. Primitive1
I go with .25 cents per inch, which comes out to about the same amount as Linda roughly $110.00. Do you enjoy doing the binding? If so be sure that you charge enough that will make you not mind doing the binding and not regret doing it.
