PJBASKET
Does APQS recomend a free standing bobbin winder or can anyone tell me about them? I hate the bobbin winder that is on the Millie. I want to sit and wind:D Thanks, Patti
John Mitchell
Here is a thread that I think will answer all your questions about bobbin winders. The Turbo is the winder that is shipped with all APQS machines now. http://www.apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=2044#pid14330 John

lizziesgirl
Linda, I rarely use my Turbo Winder because it goes so fast it scares me. I wind mine on my Bernina and use my Turbo for a cone holder for the Bernina. Is there a trick to winding them that I don't know.
LindaB
Sheryl..... Hi....At first the bobbin winder scared me too, but Connie had told me how good it was, so I persevered and am really glad I did. So, as they say Sheryl, "cowboy up" and wind your bobbins on your Turbo ...... you'll be glad you did...
ramona-quilter
I used a stand-alone bobbin-winder in the beginning and got these gnarled looking blobs. It turned out that I was not following the correct thread path. I pulled the thread from the stand and thru the hole near the tensioners. I was pulling the thread toward the tensioners and UP and around the tensionsers and then over to the bobbin. A friend showed me that the correct thread path is to pull the thread from the stand and thru the hole near the tensioners. Once thru the hole, pull the thread DOWN under the tensionsers and up and over to the bobbin. I was not getting a big enough bite of the tensioners so the thread was getting gnarled on the bobbin. Now, my bobbins are smooth as silk.
