QuiltGuy
Good Morning all!, I am fortunate to have a (wonderful) DD and SIL living in Tokyo and we are off to visit and stay with them. We will be traveling around the country a bit but also in Tokyo for many days. We have been there once before and know there are many wonderful fabrics there, just wondered if there was any suggestions for where one could pick up some nice fabrics in Japan for quilting...I am considering making a "places I have been" quilt and picking up some fabrics from each place we visit. I know old kimono fabrics are available and those are on the list for sure. My SIL is over there on a Fulbright Scholarship and is fluent in Japanese so we will not have a language barrier. Any suggestions would be welcome. This is such a diverse group of wonderful folks I thought that perhaps some of you may have been there and I could benefit from your experience! Thanks in advance for any ideas
Norma H
There is a store - Tomatos - in Nippori. Believe Nippori is the "fabric street/district". It may be in a different prefecture than Tokyo.
cblevins
My son has been in Japan for the past week and a half on business....never thought of asking him to check on fabric! He comes home Sat so it's probably too late this time.
QuiltGuy
Thanks Norma, I'll check with My family about where Nippori is located in relation to where we will be! Cheri, you may be right as it is soon to be Saturday there!
