Busy Quilting Posted May 19, 2015 Report Share Posted May 19, 2015 Pull the top thread through the eye of the needle and look at the tension check spring. It should pull down to about 9 O'clock if it is pulling tighter to 8 0r 7 O'clock you then need to loosen off your top tension. You will need a tail on your bobbin thread of about 4". If you take off your throat plate and needle up down you may find where the top thread is hanging up, it could be in the bobbin finger - the thingamajig that stops the whole bobbin assembly from free wheeling - it should only be 1/3 rd of the way into the hole.
