Sally Inouye
Hi - new member here, having just purchased a Millenium. My first of many questions is this: when doing ruler work, do you need to put that little white plastic thingy on the hopping foot? Probably a silly question to most of you out there, but hey, you got to start somewhere, right? Thanks. Sally I in California
sdrogers
If you have a machine with the older style flat foot then yes, you will have to use the adaptor when using rulers.
Sally Inouye
If I have the flat-type of hopping foot, would it be preferable to have a different foot, so that I wouldn't have to use the white plastic slip-on? And if so, where can I purchase one? Sally I
JudyL
Sally: Welcome and congratulations on your new Millennium. You can purchase the new foot from APQS. You have to change out the whole thing it's attached to but APQS will send you instructions or walk you through it . . I can't tell you because I never changed one but I know some on here have. Yes, it is MUCH better to have the newer foot without the plastic thing. I was used to the plastic thing on my old machine and it really didn't bother me til I used the new foot and then it was real hard to go back to using the adapter foot when I had to use it on an older machine for a while. sdrogers
Hi Sally Sometimes I wish I still had the flat skinny foot myself! I really prefer that when doing the itsy bitsy micro stippling but for ruler work and everyday sorta stuff the new foot is as handy as a pocket! It all boils down to what your personal preferance is. CaliMom
Maybe I am crazy but it seems to me that I should be able to go to my local glass stoere and ask them to cut me a ruler out of 3/8" thick acrylic and use it instead of buyin one from mailorder and waiting to receive it right? or am I crazy? maybe crazy... JudyL
I bought one of those nicer wood strips from Lowes and cut it into three pieces. I think it cost about $3 for the whole piece and I got three rulers out of it.
