mrsbishwit Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 This is probably a silly question but I can't seem to figure out how to baste using my Liberty. Also when using the stitch regulator what do most of you like to set your stitch per inch at (that won't be a headache ripping out if there is a need to rip it, LOL). Thanks
Jerri Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 When I baste quilts I don't use the stitch regulator - I just set my stitch at about 9 and go fast from left to right. I stitch at 11 stitches per inch - yup it is hard to rip but if you use squeezers and cut evey 3rd or 4th stitch you can just pull the bobbin thread. I have ripped out many a stitch this way - not fun but sometimes necessary
quiltjunkie Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 If you are basting a quilt for someone that wants to handquilt, a 5 stitch would be appropriate to make it easy for them to pull out the basting, after all you want it basted not quilted..basting is large running stitches. As far as your quilting a quilt and want to be able to rip out but have it look good a 9 is what I use, not to large but a little easier to rip when necessary than a 10 or above. Hope this helps, Hester Mastro:cool:
