DebLou
I\'m doing a directional border and want to make sure I\'m doing it right. Someone told me that the edge of the quilt is always the floor. Is that right? If so, then when looking at the quilt the bottom border will be right side up as your quilt but your top border will appear upside down. Is that the correct way? Sams Mom
Not an expert, but I think I heard in a class with Linda Taylor that if the quilt will be on a bed, then your top and bottom borders should face the same direction, otherwise, they all face out the same way. But I think it is your choice. My little brain thinks that if it is hanging on a wall and obviously directional, I\'d do it with the top and bottom border facing up. Now I\'m confused! DebLou
Thanks Donna, I feel the same way. If the quilt itself is not directional then I could see where the borders should face out. If the quilt is directional and I make the top and bottom borders face the same direction, would this be against any rules in a quilt show? Quilting Heidi
Mary Lou, Yes I think you are right. When I do a directional border I picture in my mind a picture frame with everything facing in toward the picture in the middle.
Sams Mom
Mary Lou, I don\'t believe there are any "standards" as far as this goes in competition, so as long as you do it well, you can direction it any way. Good Luck Donna
