skrat
I got a call today from a customer with a Ramblin Rose the Jamestown way and I\'m wondering if anyone has quilted one of these and how you quilted it. Pics would be great. Thank you in advance for your help.
Jessica Gamez
I acutally have one of those right now too. I am planning on quilting it probably by the end of next week. I am going to do a lot of continuous curve in the blocks and then in the long diagonals I am going to do a feather/cable border stencil that I have. I used it on this quilt: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jessicasquiltingstudio/2545188067/ Here are some on webshots: http://www.webshots.com/search?query=Ramblin+Rose+Meets+Jamestown
skrat
Thank you so much for the info. The quilt is beautiful. Where do I get this stencil that you sent me the photos of.
Jessica Gamez
I think they have a few different sizes on there... http://www.quiltingstencils.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=5423 If you end up using it, make sure you use a ruler (straight ruler is fine) to get right on those cable lines...i noticed they came out wobbly when I tried doing it freehand. Also, the feathers I did like Karen McTavish teaches where you double back on the outside. Does that make sense?
skrat
Yes, Jessica, it all makes sense. I have practiced and practiced Karen\'s feathers (the bump, bump ones as she puts it...LOL) and have gotten fairly good at it. I think i\'m confident enough to tackle this. I pick up this quilt tomorrow and am looking forward to quilting it. It is a beautiful pattern. The LQS did this as a BOM last year and just finished up, so I suppose that this could lead to others bringing me their quilts so I want to do a fine job on this. Thank you for your assistance, it is greatly appreciated.
Chocoholic
Yes, thanks, Jessica. We are going this at the store I teach at for a BOM. These pics sure gave me some ideas for doing mine, which I hope will lead to others wanting me to quilt theirs.
