vwelsh
Everything I have read on my Millennium says to use the 4.0 needle and that's what I have been using. However, that seems a little strange to me. Shouldn't I be matching the needle size to the thread? Why use such a big eyed needle for a fine thread? What's the real story on needles? Which needles can I use on my machine? Thanks,
Mo
Do a search on this site and you will find a few threads (no pun intended) on this subject. I use a 4.0 in my Millie on all my quilts. I do have 3.5 needles, but I haven't used them yet. I figure if it ain't broke, why mess with it Moria
connie hurst
Hi Vicki, We used to always run 3.5 needles, however you get to much flex causing more needle breaks.. We went to the 4.0 on all the machines, about 6 years ago.. We don't have near the problems... If you are using a delicate fabric or thread, then go ahead and use the 3.5 if you are using real heavy fabric, (denim, ect.) then you could even use a 4.5, but for everyday use, you will have the best luck with the4.0.. Let us know if you have any other questions!
