victoriasews
I have a customer that wants meander and tulips all over her quilt. I do not have the quilt top yet, so no pictures. Has anyone ever meandered with tulips. I'd love some suggestions. I do not want to use a pantograph.
quiltmonkey
Viki, the only suggestion I can give is (with a blue or purple pen) to mark a large long oval or circle? or an X in various spots on the quilt top where you would place a tulip stem, leaves and the tulip bulb/bloom. Tulips are pretty easy to freehand; just draw the bottom of the bulb with three little points on top, then come back down and do a long shute (leaves) along the stem, then meander along and over to the next area you have premarked for another tulip? you could do some light filler in between with a different colored thread or just fill as you go along. I've seen your freehand work in the past and I think you could easily do this tulip meander. PS: You could pull up some examples of tulip pantographs to get an idea on how to freehand them with your own style.
